Welcome to the Urban Light Lab
The Urban Light Lab addresses questions related to the evolution and maintenance of fitness traits in the face of urban light pollution. Our research is largely conducted on invertebrates, but we have recently commenced a project on an iconic Australian vertebrate, the black swan.
Our group is endlessly enthusiastic, vibrant and as diverse as both the questions we ask and the ways in which we answer them. We use field and laboratory-based manipulations, behavioural observations, immune and sperm assays, chemical analyses (such as HPLC and GCMS) and molecular techniques (such as microsatellites and RNA-bait and capture). If you are intrigued and/or want to find out more the group and the things we are involved with, please click on one of the many links above.
